About CinCHouse.com

I know there's many of us who have been grateful to have this online family, and this is my moment. Thanks to everyone who's ever given helpful advice and helped me during a bad day, which  there's been a few. I couldn't have gone through DH's basic and techschool, then preparing for our move without you. Also, I am so grateful for eodwife and sharkbait for welcoming me in when I eventually arrive to England (if the day ever comes) and also welcoming that husband of mine. I'm so glad there was a site set up this way. I could never find a one stop place where I knew I'd get all the information I needed.

In it's 10th anniversary 'Netrospective,' Yahoo named CinCHouse.com as one of the 100 most important things to happen to the Internet in the last 10 years.

CinCHouse.com is the Internet's largest community of military wives and women in uniform.  Pronounced 'sink- house', we represent the "Commanders in Chief of the House'. Our members include military girlfriends, fiancees, mothers, wives, and sisters.  We also welcome the unique perspective of male military spouses.

CinCHouse's mission is to provide timely information, resources, and a community of friends to help you survive the challenges and adventures of military life. Our goal is to help you live the life you want to live within the military community.  We also want to prepare our members for success when they leave the military and transition back to civilian life. You CAN do all this while progressing in your career, continuing your education, raising your children and pursuing your dreams.

CinCHouse features articles dealing with various aspects of military life, from dealing with deployments to finding a job.  Our extensive forums and chat rooms are filled with military spouses located around the world and online 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

CinCHouse.com Explodes with New Blogs, Columns and Relevant Content for Military Wives and Women in Uniform
March 17, 2009

HAMPTON ROADS, VA – Solidifying its position as the leader in the military community in ‘participatory journalism,’ CinCHouse.com announced it has significantly expanded its content with relevant new offerings for military wives and women in uniform. Key new selections include:

  • “The Military Spouse Career Coach” – A monthly column from professional career coach and military spouse Krista Wells, Ph.D.
  •
  • “Wife of a Wounded Marine” – A daily blog by Karie Fugett whose gripping tale demonstrates the real hardships and policy issues surrounding wounded warrior families.
  •
  • Blogs2Watch – A combination of blogs from CinCHouse.com users (via their Facebook-style MyProfiles) as well as a selection of truly exceptional spouse blogs from around the Internet. CinCHouse editors and its members choose the blogs which are most relevant and well-written rather than overwhelming visitors with an endless list of all blogs available on the Internet. Current selections include “Lucky Army Wives”, “Thoughts of Household Six,” and “HawkersWife.”

“We’ve always said that the best advice on the military lifestyle comes from experienced military wives and women in uniform,” said Founder and Editor Meredith Leyva. “CinCHouse is re-emphasizing our roots in ‘participatory journalism’ so that our great advice is coming from the real experts and professionals who are also terrific writers and connect with our community.”

“Our community isn’t interested in what a degreed journalist from Columbia University has to say about PCSing,” continue Leyva. “They want the scoop from the spouse who has relocated her family ten times through snowstorms and deployments.”

This expansion of content follows the January launch of the in-depth blog, “Wife of a Wounded Solder” by Cheryl Gansner. It also largely completes CinCHouse’s refocus of its content on ‘newbie’ military wives and women in uniform – something Leyva attributes to the three-fold increase in registered membership. There are 100,000 new military wives and 40,000 new women in uniform who enter military life each year, and CinCHouse’s primary mission is to provide information and support so they can succeed in military life.
