Hello everyone [ : i am a navy fiance and am so confused about a lot of things. . so let me start off with my SR gradutes Basics next week the 17th of February. I'm planing within two months so sometime in April i will fly up to IL and we are going to try the Courthouse wedding when he has liberty and is in Phase II. . umm. . He is done with A-school in July so his school is 23 weeks. After he comes home for a few days or a week then he goes to C-school for only a few weeks or a month. So if this all somehow worked out as planned what do you think the chances of me being apart of his orders would be?
If you could help me out i would appreciate it a ton!!

Congratulations on your engagement and SR graduation! From what i have been told and have heard from my stepfather - hes retired Navy - they will let you move with him on orders if he is in one place for longer than 6 months. My husband was gone for FMTB training in North Carolina for 4 months and I would have loved to go with him if I could have but i couldnt. Where is his A-school at? |

Thank you [ : He is schooling to be GM so he stays in GL for the 23 weeks than comes home than goes to C-school in San diego. we would marry well if it worked out 9 weeks into A-school. So i'm assuming then i wouldn't be apart of his commands? By the way thank your for your help!! |

Congrats on your upcoming wedding! Well, from what my experience was, while me and DH were dating, he had new orders cut (unaccompanied) but we got married when he was TDY in San Diego, but we got married BEFORE he checked in his new duty station in Japan. So my experience may be a little different that stateside moves. But I am sure once you get married and are on his Page 2 (DEERS) the Navy will make sure you get your things moved and you can accompany him. But they won't re cut orders, this is coming drirectly froma recruiters mouth... we thought that I had to be on my husbands orders before I could join him. BUt the recruiter said they only cut one time...but as long as the command approved me, thats all I needed...but I had to go though an entirely different process to join my husband since he is overseas. I think for you its going to be a lot more simple. |

Oh man that does sound like a crazy process. . well that's good it worked out in the end!! I just hope ours ends like that as well! Thank you so much for your help i appreciate it a ton!! So you can go with them if they are overseas? I didn't know that that's really good to know!! I just am all nervous about all this because everything is going by so fast! I just want to be prepared by April and to know the chances of being apart of his orders cause if not than i would just wait till he got back from a-school. |

great lakes is a nice base. My husband and I are here until next year and he went to Corps school here but it was moved to San Antonio. But yeah once your added to his Page 2 and everything is set up saying you two are married and everything, it should be ok. |

You sure can go! You have to go through the overseas screening process.... once that is approved, you get command sponsored and you get your move and plane tickets set up. |

Normally there is leave after A School before reporting to the first command, but as he is going to C School there will not be usually, he will have to report right away and then get leave after completing C School and before the first command. His C School will not be accompanied as it is less than 6 months in length. He will be going to a ship 99.999% of the time and a limited of overseas billets. Hawaii won't be a problem getting sponsorship, Japan or Guam that could be an issue, they usually require medical/dental screening and AD member to be E4 or higher. |

If you are married and he gets orders in the lower 48 states that are for 6 months or longer then they are automatically accompanied, meaning that you go with him no matter what. The military pays for the move there. If it is to a place overseas including Hawaii then you need command sponsorship which requires paperwork to be filled out. Hawaii not a problem to go through. To US Territories and Foreign Countries then that requires a medical/dental exam to be submitted then it goes for command sponsorship. |

I could be wrong, but the way she explained it, sounds like you will be good to go whenever you get married....she would know as she has been in this game a longgggg time, and has a lot of moving experiences! But I think as long as you will be in the States, its no hassle. I probably wouldnt worry abt getting married before A school if it wasnt a part of your original plan... I mean, Im sure you all timed it where it would be right for the both of you. I would have loved to have gotten married before my DH got his orders cut, but the timing wasnt quite right for our own reasons...but at the end of the day, we ended up together and everything fell into place. |

If you get married before C school you should be be good because usually the orders will not be cut until after all the schooling is completed. If they are cut then he can always ask for an order mod which will change the orders. As to the overseas billets. Overseas requires an overseas screening before you can move with your Sailor. Also some places will not move dependants for the more junior Sailors so if he gets to Japan they might not let you move there no matter when you get married. Hope that he gets a ship stateside for his first command to make life easier for all of you. Kathy |

You won't get a chance to get married between Boot & A School. You can easily do it during his A School but just be prepared not to be together until he has finished C School. During C School is when he should get his orders and as long as you are married when he gets them not a problem. Actually even if he gets them before you are married if they are stateside (lower 48) then they are easily amended and he can do that pretty quickly. |
