DH loves the books, and has been loving the show...I can't get over the violence (especially towards the wolves), so I stopped after the second episode, but I think if I had read the books I would be glued to the tv.

Watching it and I'm reading the book as well. There are 5 books in the series so far and I've heard there are more to come.

Both are good! The series seems to be following the book fairly close. But, you do get a little more "info" in the book. I'm running a little behind the series in the book, so I'm watching new stuff and then catch up in the book.

The books are fantastic! DH got me hooked a few years ago and we've been geeking out waiting for the next one. It finally comes out in July! He can't watch the show, so I'm being good and waiting til he gets home. But I've dying to see it!

DH and I have been watching it and are hooked. We have not read the book. For some reason it's along the same lines of the Saxon Tales series by Bernard Cornwell. Anyhow, Sunday night is when we enjoy TV watching the most. We have Game of Thrones at 9 and The Borgias at 10.

Tomorrow is season finale for the Borgias And I await the season premier for Dexter and True Blood, which will probably when Game of Thrones ends. There really aren't a lot of shows that I like to watch on Sunday nights other than what's on HBO and Showtime. I can't find anything else good out there.

So I had forgot that I even wanted to watch this show until I saw this topic. So then I started watching and at first it was a little hard because of the violence and I didn't know if I could watch it. However I was up until 3am last night watching all the episodes so I think I am hooked haha. I think I am going to send DF the books because I think he would really like them.

Yeah, I hate to see Borgias end so soon, but they are saying "Season Finale" on the promos so that tells me there is more to come! I know Game of Thrones plans more seasons.

I am a Dexter junkie! I also like Weeds, The Big C, Boardwalk Empire, etc. Love, love, love HBO and Showtime for their series.

I finally ordered the book, minus #5. I'm not much of a reader but I finished Game of Thrones in 2.5 days, an awesome feat for me. I noticed that the series did not sway away from the book. The dialogues are the same. I think the girl they picked to play Daenarys in the show is much more beautiful than how they described her in the book. I'm reading A Clash of Kings now.

Those of you who read the books. Did you read them before the show and do you think it is going to ruin the show for you because you already know what happens? I kind of want to read the books but I kind of want to be surprised when I watch the show.

I don't think it will ruin it for you regardless of which one you do first, at least for this first book/season. The dialogues are even the same. But, that's just how it is with any books put into the movie. If you read the book first then already know what's going to happen in the show, and vice versa. KWIM?

DH got me started on the book a few years ago and I have been impatiently waiting for him to get home so we can watch the series! I'm looking forward to seeing what they'll do with the books-everything I've heard has been very positive and they are supposed to be staying very faithful to the books. It won't ruin it for me because I enjoy the books so much, I can't wait to see how they've fleshed it out. I'd rather read the books first anyway because authors will put so much more detail than you can fit into a movie or series.

I'm sooo glad I have the Kindle app for my iPad, so I don't have to wait for shipping. I don't think I've ever read a book as quickly as I read the first one. I knocked that one out in just a couple of days. Crazy addicting. While what happened to Khal Drogo was sad when it was depicted in the show, the book's description actually made me cry. I so wish I knew about these books earlier, they're just so stinkin' good.
