Actually April, it's probably good that you just got into them-it took GRR Martin 6 yrs to finish the last one! Arrrgh! So you haven't had to wait it out, lol! The newest one just came out last Tuesday and the release date had been moved back multiple times.

Whoa, I think you're right. I'm barely patient enough to wait from the ending of a TV show's season to the beginning of the next. Six years? I'd lose my mind. |

I've only been waiting about 2 yrs, but my DH was going crazy! You could actually see his blood pressure rise when they'd push back the date, lol! |

I wonder if they are going to keep the GoT name for the next season or change it to A Clash of Kings? |

Good point 123ABC! Hmm...maybe just keep GoT with the subtitle Clash of Kings? |

Maybe it will be Game of Thrones: Clash of Kings, Game of Thrones: A Storm of Swords, etc? |

So I'm learning that it's extremely frustrating to read the series, while my husband doesn't. I can't very well spoil the show for him, but I really, really want to, because there are some craaaazy, mind-blowing goings-on. GAH! A Storm of Swords is nuts! |

Yeah, I'm on the third one now. I'll be done with all the books well before the second season of the show starts. LOL That will make it interesting because I will have to catch myself from saying, "but I thought blah, blah, blah happened". If I do that kind of thing I'll blow it for my husband unless he starts reading the series. Which is kinda funny April. You talk about having the Kindle app on your iPad, we have a Kindle and a Nook Color. D broke the code on his Nook and has the Kindle app on his Nook so he can read books in our Kindle queue on his Nook. |

No more A Song of Ice and Fire books for me to read, until another one comes out. What am I going to do with my life now?? |

Reread them! I'm about to start my reread. I'm hoping to pick up on lots of little things in the first few books that'll make me go "Aha! I should have seen *random crazy event* coming!"

I started the first book a couple of days ago. Is it just me or is the language he uses very different from other authors? I'm German, have been reading many English books before and normally don't have many issues with words I don't know - and if I don't know one it usually explains itself through the context and I don't have to look it up. With this book I already came across so many words/expressions I've never heard before and some I did have to look up or ask J about because I couldn't just figure them out. (Still loving it by the way, ha!) |

Yeah, I think he kind of uses the excuse of being in a different time and a different place to his advantage(?) there. I've scratched my head a few times at some things, figured them out, but was kind of like okay guess he can call it what he wants, it is his book after all. LOL |

Haha, ok glad I'm not the only one! I actually found it pretty amazing how he's able to express even simple things so differently from how anyone else would - and so much more complicated |

Yeah, the first book is REALLY hard to read. It's slow and and there are weird words/terms. About halfway through the book, it gets easier, I promise. You sort of have to get comfortable in the fictional world to start understanding everything. But be prepared for later (especially in the latest book), when he comes out with more terms/new societal norms that you don't understand. But it's worth it, the books are addictive and amazing. |
