Hey ladies, DH got promoted on Dec 1 and we have still yet to get his new pay rank. He says its because everyone is on holiday leave, but I can't buy this. Has anyone else run into this issue? How long does it usually take to get the new pay rank?

What branch is he? It really does vary on how it is done. In the Navy just because they get advanced if Enlisted doesn't mean they get the pay raise immediately, it comes sometime within the next 7 months, with Jan 15th or July 15th's pay the first block to get it, then it is spread out over the next 6 months, there is no backpay either. They wear the Rate but don't get the pay. Other branches it can take awhile but it is backdated I believe to the date the promotion happened.

He is Army and got promoted to E6. That's horrible that they don't get back pay! This isn't our first brush with pay check screw ups. When he deployed in 2009 he didn't receive in theater pay the first month but we got it back. I hope that they fix this soon, it's a pretty decent raise and we could use the extra funds.

The Navy does advancements differently, there is a test twice a year for E4 to E6 one in March and one in September, the results come out May/June and Nov/December. So because there is a mass advancement that is why they do "have" the Rate (MOS) but don't until they actually hit their advancement date. For E7 it is only once a year, they have to pass the January exam, then if they pass their package goes before a board with results coming out in August. Then it can take up to 1 year before they see the pay raise. Yes it is bad but I can see why as well.

What does his LES say for December? If the first and Exodus/Christmas that can be partial reason.

he could have been pinned and not actually advanced- he needs to go talk to someone in personell to see how they did his advancement.

but it is all done electronically so it has nothing to do with the holidays.

also if it WAS a clerical error they will give him back pay for the month of dec or until it actually starts.

What does his AKO say? More than likely they will back pay back to the date on his AKO.

When he went back to work after holiday leave he talked to someone and now his AKO says E6, so hopefully soon we'll get that pay and BAH rank plus the back pay. But it's the Army so who knows lol
