Has anyone ever been a foster "parent" for a cat or dog? What was it like? Did you enjoy it? Do you still do it? Specifically I'm wondering about looking into it near Ft Lewis, WA.

I foster dogs from time to time..honestly it is hard work. Almost all of the dogs I have had have had potty training issues...and I live in base housing so I have spent a lot of time cleaning my carpets! I have two dogs of my own and haven't had any trouble with them fighting or anything. I used to be a trainer so I love working with dogs, my biggest piece of advice for dog fostering is be a strong leader. Don't pity them. Install rules from the beginning. It can be very challenging (when a dog has never been in a crate before and howls all night for example) but it can also be really rewarding to watch them grow and improve.
