Hi ladies, usually I use Amazon to buy all my books but lately they have been getting kinda pricey. I wanted to buy the Confessions of a Military Wife but with shipping it's $20! Is there some other cheap place I can get books? I don't care if they are used. I am not keen on Ebay as I really can't be bothered with the whole pay pal thing! |

goodwill. I never would have thought of that but when I was in Hawaii, DB said he had always wanted to go there. So we went but I was super bored, I started looking at the books and I found a pretty good one for 99 cents. Also look around and see if there are any used book stores around you. My favorite place to get books.....the library |

I know the library would be awesome but for some reason they closed the base ones down so now the nearest one is across the damn city! I do check out books in charity stores but I would like to buy specific ones not just browse random ones |

Amazon, Barnes & Noble's (now that I have a nook), Half.com... those are the main ones. |

Amazon used, bookstores with a used section, and a website called Paperback Swap. PS has saved me tons of money! |

Amazon, thrift stores/goodwill (you find AMAZING books at these places), Half Price Books (best store alive), B&N. Anywhere basically. If you have a Half Price Books near you, that's the best place to go. You can get books for a 1.00 and they're usually the popular one's! |

Wow they closed your base library??? I don't know what I'd do. You can request books at our library and they can either order them ( if they have money in their budget) or you can request they do an inter-library loan from another library. |

Amazon. Shipping is getting pricey though. Thrift stores and my local library book shop where they sell used books. I try not to buy books though I am a huge fan of the library. |

not to get off subject but how in the world have I not heard of this half.com before? I just checked it out and i believe I am hooked now! I found a book I've been wanting for $0.75! I am amazed!
Also, to answer the original question, I generally go to a used book store, Waldenbooks or Books-a-million. I also order online for Barnes & Noble (we dont' have a store here) or Amazon. |

well, my dad is a bookseller so....
if i ever feel like ai need a certain book *right now* i just pick it up at a regular book store. i try not to even set foot in the larger ones though, because i always end up getting carried away and could easily spend 3 hours in there... my last amazon (uk) experience was that the book i ordered never showed up. it was through another seller and i did get my money back but still.. i had been over the moon to having found that specific book in english - and now i didn't get it after all |

half.com is great! Sharkbait, some sellers on Amazon are part of super shipping saver or whatever. If you buy in bulk and spend over 25, it's free shipper (with certain sellers) Since I'm getting a Kindle, I'm going to be going with Amazon ha. |

I have zero patience when it comes to books I want, so any new ones I buy at Barnes and Noble or Borders. However, there are lots of older books that I love and want in hardback, so I go to half price at least once a week. I always find great stuff there for SO cheap! Not always what I went in looking for... but oh well! Unless it is books for school, I tend to stay away from online stuff, but that comes back to the patience issue. If I want a book/movie, I want it NOW not in a week, so I am not a fan of netflix either! |

Barnes & Noble is offering free next day shipping for online orders if you're a member. I only order online since whenever I go in there to get one book I come out with 10 :S |
