I had a conversation with someone today about the Kindle. She made a great point on why she choose the Kindle over Nook (she didn't look into ereaders) B&N stock has been rocky so to speak. She didn't want to risk buying the Nook and within two years they file bankruptcy. It's a long shot but anyone would be upset in that situation.

I got a Kindle 3G and Wi-Fi. I love the my Kindle. Amazon offers free e-books, low-priced books and new releases for less than $10.

I purchased a really nice cover by CE compass that completely covers my Kindle. I toss it in my purse and do not have to worry about it getting damaged.

DH got me the latest generation Kindle for Christmas and I love it! I love that I can get a new release for 10 bucks, when the hard copy is 25 in the store! Plus I really love the classics, and alot of those are free

I actually don't have any type of electronic reader yet (I have been begging my luddite DH for an iPad since they came out, but no luck), but as a librarian, I always recommend the Nook or Sony Reader because so many public libraries these days offer downloadable books in the same manner that you would check them out from the library (ie free), but these may not be downloaded to a Kindle. The main company that provides this service to libraries lists both Nook and Sony Reader as compatible all of the time, and iPads some of the time. If I don't get an iPad, then I am pretty sold on a color Nook, as I especially like the idea of the sharing capability.

Yeah...I heard that, and have heard great things about them (Kindles)...but until I can (legally) download a book from a library who uses a vendor like OverDrive, I won't be getting one. (I've heard lots of anecdotes about how it can be done, but it's not allowed)

I have the latest edition of the Kindle, and I absolutely love it. I got it a few months ago when they said it would be backstocked but I got it within 5 days of ordering the device. I got the Kindle that has 3G as well as Wi-fi. The books are so much cheaper then buying the paperback version. I also love the fact that I can sync books to my iPhone especially when I am waiting somewhere and don't have my kindle with me. The few cons about the Kindle is you have to buy a cover that has a light attached or a reading light because the Kindle does not become illuminated. Also their is Nook Color which I think would be great especially if you have children you want to read to. I really hope that the Kindle comes out with a color version as well.

I ended up with the regular Nook for Christmas...I dont really have anything to compare it to though! LOL I like it so far, but I did see the Nook Color in store and fell in LOVE! But, so far I havent had any problems with the Nook, they have a free book every Friday as well as other fun little things. I also wish I could download different games to the Nook, aside from the ones that they have, but I dont even know if you can do that with the other ereaders out there...

I wouldn't be deterred just because of the possibility of filing for bankcruptcy.  Even if B&N does and it affects the Nook, someone is going to come up with an app for it that it continues on.  This is what happened with Blackberry (RIM) years ago and it was a simple app solution.
