Is anyone reading any of his works?  For some reason I got the Shakespeare bug this summer and I just started reading my 4th book which is Twelfth Night.  I heard it's pretty good.

One of my favorite grad school classes was Shakespeare. We read some of the not-typical plays and it was a lot of fun!

I have to say I will always be a die hard Romeo and Juliet fan, I also love Hamlet. And a Midsummers Night Dream....I love shakespeare period. When I was in England i sat in front of his "home" and read Romeo and Juliet. It brought me to tears, no lie,

Twelth Night is a good read...it's easy to question the realisticness (new word!!) of it but it's still fun

I read them in college but can't say I'd sit down and read them now. The Olde English bugs me! I do love classics though

I adore Shakespeare. I read it in College, and still read him quite frequently. My favorite tragedy is Titus Andronicus, and my favorite comedy being The Comedy of Errors!

Girls in P'cola who like Shakespeare should check out the Alabama Shakespeare Festival. It's wondeful!! I know, Alabama and Shakespeare? But trust me, it's a fantastic theatre company.

My favorite tragedy is Titus Andronicus . . .

Wow, diehard. That play depressed me to no end.

I was big into Shakespeare in high school. My favorite is Midsummer Night's Dream. So fun.

It's not Old English, it's not even Middle English.... It's Renaissance English. I went to his birth place in England.... It was monumental. Also saw his monument in Westminster Abbey. Amazing. Shakespeare is without a doubt one of the most hardcore writers in history. I would say, in my opinion, his sonnets are his best works. You can literally make anything you want out of a Shakespeare sonnet, based solely on tone of voice and interpretation. He was awesome.

This is a great thread!  (Of course, as an English major, I would think so.)  It's so wonderful to see so many other Shakespeare fans here.  I've so often had the experience of watching people's eyes glaze over at the mention of the great man, but I always feel so badly for them on missing out!

My favorite tragedies are Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, and Othello; my favorite comedies are Twelfth Night and Much Ado About Nothing

I think many of you would enjoy A Winter's Tale.  If you haven't already read it, it combines both tragedy and comedy very distinctly into one work.  It's amazing!

I have a BA in English! Warms my heart to see fellow lit buffs. =)

I second that A Winter's Tale is great. A couple years ago we had this traveling theatre group from London come to campus and perform it old school style, with only minimal props etc... It was great.

Also, The Tempest is a really good one. A little more out there, but it's refreshing.
