I am a bit different because I have several tattoos and i am prior service myself. I have a tattoo on my back that has the Army emblem and after he died, I added the date of first husbands death. I also will have my current marriage anniversary date in a yellow ribbon on my back. I am of the opinion that they should not be visible in a t shirt and shorts because getting them is about your personal journey not what you have to show others.

I was born into the military,  I married military.  I have always supported the military way before it was "cool" to do so.  Having a EOD man as a husband has created one of the strongest feelings of pride I've ever felt.   From what I have been told by my husband, who has been EOD for 15 yrs and is now a teacher,  is unless you have earned your badge spouses can wear crabs being that they are under 1 inch.  This is the size I wear around my neck.
I know a marine eod wife that got a tattoo on her tiny forearm that is around 5-6 inches with the words 'marine eod wife'.  She also wears a crab around her neck that is 3 inches wide.  That display to me is a huge slap in the face.
Now with the tattoo issue, my husband and have discussed this for a few years and he wants me to get one.  It will be small and in a place where no one can see it except for my husband and I.  Now I ask all the people who think spouses shouldn't have tattoos or mottos...whatever they were being called.  What is wrong with that??  If my husband asked me to put something on my body to show love for him and his carreer I see no problems with that.  Just keep it tasteful.

i have always had a love/facination for tattoos, but never really wanted any for myself. i would never get anything military related though. husband and i are different when it comes to the military though. we dont throw it out there that he is in the military. no stickers, no acu pattern purses, we live off post, he doesnt wear his uniform off base (just recently started wearing on the car ride home). i support him, he has accomplished so freakin much, but...i don't know how to say it...

I don't like them. I would never get one, I haven't earned the right to have it. I know a lot of Marines that think it's disrespectful. But I don't like to wear anything that has logos or moto on it, so there is no way I would get something printed on my body. Now I admit around the house I love wearing plain OD green Skivvy shirts. I'm not that brave. I also am not a fan of tattoos for myself but I dont care if other people have them. I don't know about a significant other, but getting your kids name tattooed on is seems okay to me. No matter what they will always be your kids.
