Yeah that is just crossing the line with them knowing about your finances. Make sure you resolve this bank issue to further avoid anymore problems!

I've been in your shoes - but, I cut that crap real quick. You are engaged, right? You should take this as a 'red flag' and put your foot down right now because it is not their business and it could get worse. I know what it is like to have in-laws like that and unless you can also get your husband-to-be on board with how you feel, you may have problems with him down the road, too. It took us a few years but, my husband and I are finally on the same page with this.

Here's a quick example for you: My father-in-law went so far as to call the company we bought our car from and demand that the license plate was sent to him instead of to me. Why? My husband was out of town for school and his father couldn't help but to meddle. It was funny because the car company called me to ask why my father-in-law would have called him to do that - I had to explain that that man did everything he could to be up in our business and to just send it to me. I can use a screwdriver, thank you very much. His cousins also told me that they were telling everyone how they'd need to help us out financially because moving back would be expensive when we hadn't even asked to borrow a dollar - how embarrassing...! What do they know about our expenses? Nothing. Because it is not their business.
