  I need help!!!<!--StartFragment-->

My fiancé invited me to my first Marine ball. At first I was so excited!!!! However, the problem is I’m Muslim, and I cover up. I love him and supported him throughout his deployment.

I was talking to a Marine's wife and she told me to be prepared to hear very rude comments and remarks about my head cover and the fact that I am Muslim. She said, some are very racist and mean.

I talked to my fiancé and he said yes, it might be bad but he'll always be proud of who I am. What should I do???? How should I react if someone embarrassed me or said something mean??? Would they be scared when they see me with a scarf?  It'll also be my first time getting introduced to them!!!

Please help and be honest!

I answered you in the Marine forum, but I'll answer here too just in case you don't see it.
I really don't see how this would be an issue. Out country is at war with another country, not with Islam. There are plenty of Muslim Marines themselves! You might get an ignorant comment from some drunk Marine, but if you just ignore their sorry *** and enjoy the ball! You are not going to be outcast just for being Muslim! Have fun at the MC Ball!!!!

I think you might be surprised how it turns out! All in all, you have nothing to be terrified about. You might hear something from someone drunk, but don't look for it. Try to ignore it and enjoy the ball. You may get looks because people aren't use to seeing muslim attire. Relax and have fun!!

I think you'll find that if any ignorant comments are made to you or about you, more people there would be jumping up to protect and defend you than attack you. They are Marines, protecting is what they do

hams how did it go? Did you have a good night? A lot of people are ignorant about Islam and what is/isn't happening out there and ignorance breeds hate. I really hope that you had a great night.
